Late afternoon light high in the Valle Frances, an enormous spectacular basin in the heart of the Torres del Paine massif.
I had spent this entire day hiking around the whole basin, enduring the relentless wind and blowing snow. Shooting this photo was a challenge in the strong wind; I could only shoot from behind large rock windbreaks! At the time, it seemed like a suffer-fest, but now I look back on it as a highlight of my trip - exploring this immense basin, with its fresh glacial moraines, remote lakes, and the ever-present serrated peaks towering above.
