Cuernos del Paine rise more than 8,000 feet straight above Lago Nordenskjold in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile - December.
This photo was taken on an eerily calm day (you can see the lake is still). The clouds looked stormy, but nothing was happening. The whole atmosphere had a strange calm feeling, like being in the eye of a storm. Sure enough, during my hike back from here that same day, the wind unleashed with fury, as if trying to make up for lost opportunities. Photo © copyright by Jack Brauer.
