Sunrise alpenglow on Crestone Needle, a fourteener in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness - September.
This is one of those photos that I had envisioned beforehand while studying maps and Google Earth. A friend and I backpacked for two days and woke up early on this morning to hike up to the ridgeline vista before sunrise, all with this view in mind. So I was immensely gratified to witness the amazing blood-red alpenglow light that this mountain range is named for, and to come home with the shot I had imagined. Photo © copyright by Jack Brauer.
